ARTIST BIO
Seema Nusrat is a visual artist based in Karachi, Pakistan. Having obtained a BFA from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, she went on to pursue a Masters in Fine and Media Arts from Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, Canada.
She finds her creative muse in the bustling energy of the urban metropolis she has lived in. With a deep-rooted fascination for urban life and the interaction between the existing and imposed urban landscapes, Nusrat seeks to understand the complex relationship between people and the environment around them.
Nusrat embraces a collaborative method of working, involving artisans, craftsmen, and technical experts from diverse backgrounds. The integration of various techniques and methods enhances the depth and richness of her artwork, imbuing it with layers of cultural significance and craftsmanship. Nusrat’s work invites contemplation, urging audiences to question the underlying essence of their urban surroundings and the lives pulsating within them.
